September 2021 Greater Vancouver Housing Report

REBGV: HOME SALE ACTIVITY CONTINUES TO OUTSTRIP THE SUPPLY OF HOMES FOR SALE

Home sale activity remains very high across Metro Vancouver’s housing market, while new listings remains around the long-term averages.

The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver reported residential home sales in the area totalled 3,149 in September 2021 - 13.6% lower than the the 3,643 sales recorded a year ago. And, it was at around the same level at 3,152 units compared to the number of homes sold the month before in August 2021.

Last month’s sales were 20.8% above the 10-year September sales average:

  • There were 5,171 detached, attached and apartment properties newly listed for sale on the MLS® in Metro Vancouver,
  • This represents a 19.2% fewer homes compared to the 6,402 homes listed for sale in the same period a year ago,
  • Compared to a month ago, the number of homes listed for sale was 28.2% fewer homes when 4,032 homes were listed.

September’s new listings were 1.2% below the 10-year average for the month.
